Another bring-a-smile-on-my-face-treasure-tweeps i want to share with you…. I had the pleasure to get in touch with a wonderful person, her name is Lesley Barnes. She’s is an illustrator and freelance animation director with a fascinating and truly unique style. Lesley lives in Glasgow, Scotland. And studied English Literature at university, loves tea and old Penguin Books. She’s inspired by Charley Harper, Edward Bawden, Alexander Girard, Saul Bass, Men with Moustaches, Brass Bands, Red Socks and the animation ‘Hedgehog in the Fog’ by Yuri Norstein.
Her work is a nice mix of stark black combined with colors and geometric shapes created with the use of paper, inks and computer. The illustrations and animations are a visual pleasure, charming and have a certain fairytale mood. Her work has shown at film festivals worldwide and has won numerous awards. She has also produced animation for television (BBC, Channel 4), film, documentary and has directed a number of adverts.
Lesley hopes to bring a little bit of magic to your day…. and i must say she does! A never ending visual treat and I wish I could show you all of her work.
All images and videos belong to Lesley Barnes. You can see more of her amazing illustrations and animations on: her site – flickr – vimeo or visit her shop. Or connect with her on twitter.
